      Previously, six parties supported postponing elections, but the largest, but Evo Morales' MAS-IPSP opposed delay. MAS-IPSP won a plurality in November, leads in polls. @CarwilBJ/1241340070713593857

      Should the "quarantine" work, and Bolivia could COVID19 transmission and resume elections shortly since there are a small number of cases. Currently 19 are known. @CarwilBJ/1241353618793672706

        On the other hand, if there is ongoing, untracked community transmission, a Bolivian election would be a public health disaster. Bolivian elections are almost entirely in-person, and election integrity mechanism involve the co-presence of observers.

          Legally, the electoral authorities are a fourth branch of government in Bolivia, and their statement is very clear in seeking consent from the legislative branch, led by a MAS-IPSP majority for a new election date.
