Co-sign this whole thread. Remarkable similarity to 1968, when stopping the Vietnam war wasn't a viable option on the presidential ballot x.com/MonicaLMarks/status/1825961046148001857

Three additions… 1. Given the pace of the genocide in Gaza, we all have a moral obligation to turn it into a political issue in the months before November, and btw the election and January 20. Don't wait.
-
Just as with the Iraq War—supported by a bipartisan Congressional vote in 2002, defended by both candidates in 2004—we have to challenge the war on Gaza, and a looming war in Lebanon in the streets.
-
2. There's still a substantial bloc of people who can't bring themselves to vote Democratic and who will abstain/third-party-vote in the presidential election unless Harris backs away from Netanyahu.
-
3. It's possible to simultaneously conclude that a Democratic victory in November is preferable AND that protesting the Democrats between now and then is the most effectively strategy to end the genocide.
-
People who see genocide happening in Gaza have a strong moral obligation to allow, and even encourage protests targeting the current and future president.
