  1. It's just astounding how much US presidential politics pivots around racial fears of the white majority… Can a Black woman show she's tough on crime? Will a white male VP reassure people enough to vote for a Black pres? Who's tough on the border? Who backs the war on Gaza?

      And because this is a national election, much of it turns on fears held by people who will never be touched or impacted by those who they fear.
