      @jeffryhouse For a parallel instance where a canonical text clashes with empirical reality, consider Foucault's description of prisons. They turn out to be places where guards are disinterested in controlling bodily movements and instead fixated on preventing escape. jstor.org/stable/3108481

    @jeffryhouse Prison gangs are the antithesis of the disciplinary/panopticon model. But… that model tells us so much about the rest of society.
