      1. What does it mean when conservatives position themselves as "rebels", "contrarians" and "resistance" merely because most of their colleagues and students disagree with them? Especially when their discredited ideas are made the law of the land by the Supreme Court.

    Also, same academics: I defend tradition and social order but need to market it as "rebellion" and "intellectual diversity."

      Again, the same academics: Criticizing dead presidents for colonialism at home and racism abroad is dangerous "conformity." Defending them is edgy heroism.

          A primary complaint seems to be that their peers don't take them seriously or attend their parties. No one hangs out with them but Peter Thiel, Bari Weiss, and the Federalist Society.
