At their third camp of the summer (Nashville Children's Theatre), my kids won't be the only ones wearing masks because everyone is. I'm thrilled and grateful.
-
We have one vulnerable family member and five family members who don't want to get COVID.
-
We also know there are unvaccinated, medically vulnerable and immunocompromised kids who deserve to have summer camp too.
-
And there are kids and adults whose plans or dreams would be ruined by prolonged fatigue, brain fog, or cardiovascular illness due to Long COVID.
-
Adults should have the patience to minimize death and disease while scientists work on sterilizing immunity and institutions install universal improvements to public spaces that impede infection.
-
(and we urgently need to fund the hell out of those things.)
-
And kids should learn that we can and will shape our decisions around keeping one another alive and healthy. That we can and will make collective decisions to do hard things.
