@rmc031 I've done a fair number of interviews for news stories. I understand that the reporting content will be checked by the journalist and not cited, while my analysis will be quoted roughly in the way you describe.

@rmc031 If I can help shape a well-informed view of a topic, that is helpful to me. And the one paragraph of quotation serves as a hat tip that my contribution was useful. Often a few print sentences result from 30-45 minutes on the phone and that feels fine.

@rmc031 Still, if there's a way to amplify acknowledgement — hyperlinks, extended quotes, or side pieces -— those are preferred. This news article/Twitter thread combo from Thomas Graham @Tajg92 was really well done. @Tajg92/1522211489410600960?t=yORTIqshwZWdGz7TuYcBZA&s=19

@rmc031 @Tajg92 But of course if I'm providing specialized data, I'd want more direct credit. And this is the place where I have questions for journalists: if you have some data to share on a topical issue (rather than an extant news story to contextualize), how should you approach journos?
