A new WHO dataset calculates excess mortality during the pandemic. They estimate that 86,965 excess deaths (CI: 88030–89097) in Bolivia through 31 December 2021.
This figure is based on direct monthly death reports and not inference from other countries.
According to the WHO, Bolivia had the third worst excess mortality (following Peru, Bulgaria) in 2020 and 2021.
