      1. Vaccine in kids 5-11 was 12%(!) effective in stopping Omicron infection, 48%(± a lot) in preventing hospitalizations. Masks in schools remain an essential protection, and by far the strongest one available. @apoorva_nyc/1498320848993890308

      Details: —Study conducted Dec 13–Jan 31 —Kids 12-17 saw more modest declines in vaccine effectiveness, to 51% vs infection, 73% vs hospitalization. —Young kids get 1/3 of adult dose. That could change.

    As a parent of two recently vaccinated kids, this is a horrible news. Worse because secondary infection puts their grandmother at risk.
