    Generally, this calculation does not bridge the gulf between rich and poor countries, but mega-deforesters Brazil and Indonesia are bumped into the top five historical emitters.

      In the historical long-run, shifting emissions from imported goods doesn't change the rankings significantly, though it does lessen China's historical responsibility, and probably means a lot for small, intense energy refiners like Trinidad & Kuwait.
