      Baseline concepts of wisdom and fairness would require representative people asked to risk their lives and people who have known the hardships of war to serve on such a council.

        Yet in our system, it's often elites who risk nothing charged with making such determinations, alongside generals who have risen in the ranks by falsely claiming every past military engagement was a success.
