  1. We live in a pervasively documented world, where being uniquely identified to the State is a pre-requisite for many actions. Even in that world, though, does this really feel compelling? (You are so much more.)

      Also, I often think about how much having to write the same name atop everything weake for 12 to 20 years structures our thoughts and sense of self.

            What is the net benefit vs harm of lifelong tracking when it comes to education, to criminal acts, to security, to credit, to trust? What about a world where we had to make such decisions without reference to a file for each person?

              Somewhere there are rooms of recordkeepers and sorters, and everywhere there are officials entering new records and checking old ones? Is this the highest use of their/our time?
