Edwin Castellanos Mendoza (MAS) won the city's mayoral race in 2010 w/ 39% of the vote. Right-leaninng José María Leyes (MDS) won 61% of the vote in 2015. Manfred's return would continue the right's urban dominance.

Meanwhile Edmundo Novillo and Iván Canela (MAS) both won around 61% of the departmental vote for governor in 2010, 2015. Humberto Sánchez (MAS) has a wide lead this year, but with a much smaller showing the polls.
