Bartolina Sisa Peasant Women's Confederation demands gender parity in candidates (plus exclusion of gender violence perpetrators) for upcoming regional elections in Bolivia. Three reasons this an important intervention… @BrujulaNoticias/1336774639947821062

1. Bolivia has a 50/50 gender parity standard in its legislatures, but not for executive candidates. Huge imbalances in mayors and governors, who are largely elected in the regional vote.
-
2. The MAS-IPSP is the dominant political force in most municipalities, and most are rural. This is the Bartolina Sisa's home base. Female nominees will largely get elected.

3. Bolivia has one of the highest rates of gender violence in Latin America, and the party has been slow to unravel this problem w/in its own ranks.
