      @oddNihilist We're like six or eight moves deep into parties changing the legislative rules in the USA. So forgive me if I've lost track of some principle of moral sanctity of the rules themselves.

    @oddNihilist The Senate used to have a set of grand traditions, such as the filibuster, which was weaponized into a de facto 60% threshold for legislation over a decade ago. Routine judicial appointments were denied. Supreme Court nominations were stolen. etc. etc.

      @oddNihilist At this point, there will be broad anger from the Democratic base, plus indignant radicals if the Democrats DON'T change fundamental procedural rules.

        @oddNihilist How does Bolivia compare? Well, the anti-MAS opposition never controlled the legislature, but they did execute a legislative double back flip to get Áñez to be president, and then engaged in all kinds of politicized prosecutions from the executive.
