      Evo Morales sought and won support from Bolivia's Plurinational Constitutional Tribunal to run again, despite losing a 2016 referendum on the question.

        The Tribunal accepted his argument that presidents have a human right to postulate themselves for re-election. Since the Bolivian constitution says the opposite, they based this claim on Inter-American human rights law.

          Colombia sought a consultative opinion on the question from the Inter-American Court on Human Rights @CorteIDH. Today's @CIDH statement contributes to the Court's deliberations.
