      @caulkthewagon I've turned this over in my mind a few times and I'm not sure I can figure out what the "exact same mentality" is, other than believing your life has a purpose. Obviously, not all such purposes deserve elected or unelected office.

    @caulkthewagon … or believing that your own purpose overrides worst-case-scenario calculations. This bit of "illogic" / prioritizing personal coherence over a game theoretical optimization of strategy may be inherent to living a life with enough integrity to do daring things.

      @caulkthewagon It's hard for a lifelong prison abolitionist to feel comfortable pulling the lever for a Clinton or a Biden. Hard for a feminist Supreme Court justice to retire early bc Donald Trump might win. But those "miscalculations" are inherent to their larger, impactful trajectories.
