                    Riots following Martin Luther King's assassination on April 4, 1968: "looting, arson, or sniper fire occurred in 196 cities in thirty-six states plus the District of Columbia." This coincided with other protests and led to the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1968.

                  Occupy, fall 2011: Occupy Wall Street spawed hundreds of occupations and solidarity actions, including a movement-reported 951 events in 82 countries on October 15. The Guardian crowd-sourced a list of 746 events including 294 US municipalities.

                Anti-Iraq War protests, early 2003: February 15-16 was likely the largest day of internationally coordinated protest up to that date. Activists estimated 225 cities had demonstrations that day. Numerous further events March 15-23.

              May 1970 Student Strike: A truly multiracial/multi-issue mobilization, a nationwide student strike was spurred on by the US invasion of Cambodia, the prosecution of Black Panther leaders, and shootings at Kent and Jackson State Universities.
