    @ProfessorCrunk Thank you for all of your follow up, @ProfessorCrunk: I just want to say that as Black man w/ substantially spiritual-rather-than-religious views the implied choice between Blackness and theistic devotion hits me hard.

      @ProfessorCrunk Maybe doubly so as someone with Christian upbringing and Jewish ancestry. Part of my growing up has been deep religious questioning and that's something I share with many secular Jews, whether or not they believe in a higher power.

        @ProfessorCrunk I'm interested in how our conversations lead to Blackness that is open to those who have questioned the God of our fathers, who have wrestled with faith and homophobia, who fled religious communities that authorized personal or societal abuse...

          @ProfessorCrunk … whether or not they found a Higher Power at the end of that journey. I don't doubt you do as well. But this seems like the right conversation to articulate that in.
