@leh_vanessa Per the linked article, the cooperativist miners threatened to kill their hostage (Illanes) if there was a police intervention. Fair to say that Romero could have been risking Illanes' life either way.Permalink On twitter.com

@leh_vanessa For what it's worth, I have no special desire to say Romero has always acted rightly. I just don't understand his opponents' focused anger re the Illanes/miner situation, which seems like every police dept's worst nightmare.On twitter.com

@leh_vanessa Either there's a specific criminal order by Romero that I don't know; or people are writing off the lives of the miners as worthless (because "terrorists" or whatever), so there's no dilemma to going in guns blazing; or hostility to Romero is overriding balanced analysis.Permalink On twitter.com
