@kenaviba @roblaser Using a conventional definition of paramilitary (a cohesive armed force), there's not a lot of examples to draw on: There was an armed pro-MAS group in Sep 11, 2008 clashes that led to the Porvenir massacre, but they killed no one (and the MAS suffered all but two of the deaths)

@kenaviba @roblaser Then there was Montero in October 2019, and the Cochabamba clashes in which three people were killed. But the deadly armed violence of 2019 was a major departure from the pro-MAS side (as I tweeted after Montero).

@kenaviba @roblaser With regard to deadly unarmed clashes between the MAS and its opponents, there are: The death of Christian Urresti in Cbba, 1/11/2007 (MAS were unarmed; civic movement armed) A beating in Tiquipaya (Santa Cruz), 9/13/2008 Assassination of Clemente Paco, 3/1/2015 …

@kenaviba @roblaser and the El Alto Municipal Arson by the Federación de Padres de Familia de El Alto, which aligned with the MAS. woborders.blog/2016/02/21/deadly-el-alto-protest-casts-shadow-on-bolivian-referendum/ None of these are "paramilitary" actions. The first two are two-sided street clashes.

@kenaviba @roblaser Treating these cases as critically of the MAS as possible, you could say that 15 political opponents of the MAS were killed by unarmed pro-MAS movements. But then you have to acknowledge the coincident killing of 13 MASistas in 2006-08, and the many deaths this year.
