        1. #BoliviaEnCrisis #Persecution Bolivian prosecutors have raided a La Paz house frequented by fmr pres Evo Morales seeking evidence of "possible subversive plans" and "documents of sedicious acts." This raid, on these charges, is persecution. Here's why. erbol.com.bo/seguridad/allanan-domicilio-relacionado-evo-morales-secuestran-documentaci%C3%B3n

Evo Morales was president until his resignation on November 10; he departed Bolivia on November 11. All of his actions taken in this house happened while he was head of state. "Sedition" to oppose a post-Evo government would require time travel.

In Bolivia, mass movements often demand the resignation of a president and use means of collective pressure to achieve it. This includes the movements that brought Evo Morales to power and those that brought Jeanine Añez to power.

Calling protest against the current government "subversion" and "sedition" is just criminalizing Bolivia's vibrant, extraparliamentary political life. "Direct and participatory" democracy through assemblies and cabildos is even recognized in the Constitution (Art 11.II.1)

Prior to November 10, Evo Morales credibly feared a military coup against him. Planning to resist that effort after the fact was prudent and legitimate.

Not only did the prosecutor's raid Evo Morales' residence, they paraded his personal effects before the media (unclear if in textual, photographic, or physical form): his gifts from fellow leaders, his x-rays, a statue of him playing football. Acts of pure humiliation.

#BoliviaEnCrisis #Persecution The Añez government has a primary mission: free and fair elections. Intimidation, persecution, and humiliation of the leader of an opposition party constitutes a failure in that mission.
